1. What are cookies and other tracking technologies?

a)“Cookies”. A cookie (sometimes referred to as local storage object or LSO) is a data file placed on a device. Cookies can be created through a variety of web-related protocols and technologies, such as HTTP (sometimes referred to as “browser cookies”), HTML5, or Adobe Flash. We use tracking technologies (including cookies, flash cookies, web beacons/GIFs, embedded scripts) to collect usage information. We may use tracking technologies for a variety of purposes, including:

  • Functional Cookies Functional cookies are essential for the Site to function properly. These cookies allow websites to remember the user’s site preferences and choices they make on the Site, including username, region, and language. They are anonymous and don’t track browsing activity across other websites. These cookies remember your preferences on our website.
  • Performance and Web Analytics Cookies Performance cookies allow us to gather statistical data on how the website is performing to make improvements. Web Analytics cookies allow us to gather information regarding how you access the Site, for how long you stay and what parts of the Site you have visited. These cookies don’t collect identifiable information from you, which means all the data is collected is anonymous and only used to improve the functionality of a website.
  • Marketing & Other CookiesMarketing cookies allow us to gather information to display advertisements based on topics that are relevant to you, allowing us to send you tailored offers.  They also allow our partners to display relevant advertisements based on your interests.

b) When you log in we may collect your password and computer and/or connection information. There will also be some instances in which we will use some software tools to measure and collect session information, including page response times, download errors, time spent on certain pages and page interaction information.

c) Our goal is to collect and use only that information that we think is required for our legitimate business interests, in order to better understand your interests and improve your experience of using the Site.

d) You may be prompted to set you cookie preferences when visiting ResumeHelp. Once you set your preferences, you may change them at any time by visiting your Manage Account page. Cookie preference setting will be saved for the time allowed by privacy laws.  For further information about our use of cookies and your opt-out choices, see Section 3 below.

2. Use of cookies by our analytic partners

Merchant uses Google Analytics session cookies to provide meaningful reports about Site visitors. Google Analytics cookies do not collect personal information about Site visitors. Cookies set via our website include those listed below in Section 3.

A few additional important things you should know about our use of tracking technologies (cookies):

  • We offer certain features that are available only through the use of tracking technologies.
  • We use both session and persistent tracking technologies. Tracking technologies (e.g., cookies) can either be persistent (i.e., they remain on your computer until you delete them) or temporary (i.e., they last only until you close your browser). You are always free to decline tracking technologies, as long as these are not essential, if your browser permits, although doing so may interfere with your use of the Site. Refer to the help section of your browser, browser extensions, or installed applications for instructions on blocking, deleting, or disabling tracking technologies such as cookies.
  • We encode and protect the tracking technologies that Merchant sets, so that only we can interpret the information stored in them.
  • If you click “Allow cookies,” cookies may be dropped by third parties and gather data independently. Third parties include search engines, analytics service providers, social media networks, and advertising companies to display ads and customize the content on ResumeHelp. We do not control the use of cookies by third parties.
  • You may encounter tracking technologies/cookies from our third party service providers, that we have allowed on our site that assist us with various aspects of our web site operations and services, such as Google Analytics.
  • You also may encounter tracking technologies from third parties on certain pages of the websites that we do not control and have not authorized. (For example, if you view a web page created by another user, there may be a cookie placed by that web page).

3. Controlling and deleting cookies and tracking technologies

4. Definitions

Web Beacons Small graphic images or other web programming code called web beacons (also known as “1×1 GIFs” or “clear GIFs”) may be included in our online service’s pages and messages. Web beacons may be invisible to you, but any electronic image or other web programming code inserted into a page or e-mail can act as a web beacon.

Clear gifs Clear gifs are tiny graphics with a unique identifier, similar in function to cookies. In contrast to HTTP cookies, which are stored on a user’s computer hard drive, clear gifs are embedded invisibly on web pages and are about the size of the period at the end of this sentence.

Embedded Script An embedded script is programming code that is designed to collect information about your interactions with the online service, such as the links you click on. The code is temporarily downloaded onto your device from our web server or a third-party service provider, is active only while you are connected to the online service, and is deactivated or deleted thereafter.
